HOLY DAYS by Sally Nemeth

photos by Jordana Zeldin

In April 1936, Kansas is plagued with drought and decay in the wake of The Great Depression. America migrates toward work but one family is rooted to their barren farm, haunted by loss and a once-prosperous life.  As another spring approaches with no sign of renewal they begin to adapt to the inevitable, eroding with their surroundings even as they learn to accept their fate. The Los Angeles Times said of the original production: “Sally Nemeth's Holy Days is a stage poem. It is uncommonly affecting, an elegy for the lost souls in the dying plains who clung to their blighted homesteads like bees to a poisoned hive.”

HOLY DAYS cast and staff:

Lowell Byers (Will) graduated from Denison University in May of 2008.  At Denison, he was an NCAA All-American Swimmer for four years, as well as appearing in 6 main stage productions, and a one-man show, which he wrote himself.  Since arriving in New York, he has performed in five Off-Off Broadway productions, including Look Afer You, which was part of the 2009 NY Fringe Festival.  Recently, he played a small part in the film, Company Retreat, directed by Campbell Scott.  Lowell has studied with Peter Miner of the Terry Schreiber Studios, and audition and acting coach Ted Sluberski.  www.LowellByers.com

“The play largely works thanks to the appealing performances, particularly by Lowell Byers,” (New York Post, Look After You)
